Thanks to all of this, Sanlucar has become a primary holiday destination for tourists from the surrounding area.

As far as leisure is concerned, Sanlucar features a large urban beach – La Calzada Beach – 2.5 km long and approximately 70 m wide. Sanlucar also has a semi-urban beach – La Jara – 2.6 km long and 75 m wide. Sanlucar´s beaches, which benefit from Doñana’s landscape, are home of the traditional horse races in the summertime. Within the area, we can also find the spectacular beaches in Rota and Chipiona, less than 5 km away. Alfonso de Hohenlohe, prince, businessman and one of the key characters in the development of the Costa del Sol during the 1950’s. He was the person responsible for many urban, hotel and restoration projects in the luxury tourism industry. Among these we can highlight the Marbella Club, and the Puente Romano. Don Alfonso not only strictly supervised the promotion of the projects themselves, but also their urban architecture, decoration, landscaping, gastronomy, leisure offer, social events, etc. He marked the product with his unmistakable, high-quality, personal touch.

In 1989, Don Alfonso arrived in Sanlucar de Barrameda in search of a new location for a high-level tourism project in an area in Western Andalusia with lower levels of saturation. This was the starting point for the development of the “Sanlucar Club de Campo” project. During a boat trip along the Guadalquivir River, he conceived the “Sanlucar Club de Campo” project: a space for living without built-up urban areas, where respect of the natural environment prevails and with spectacular views over the Guadalquivir River, Doñana National Park and the vineyards of the Jerez region.

Sanlucar Club de Campo:

Sanlucar Club de Campo is situated in a privileged location, with unrestricted views over the four cardinal points:

•South: the historical monuments of Sanlucar de Barrameda;
• West: the Guadalquivir River estuary, the Doñana National Park and the Atlantic Ocean;
• North: the marshy lowlands, the Algaida Mount, and the vineyards of the lowlands of the Sherry region;
• East: the villages of Trebujena, Jerez and El Puerto de Santa María silhouetted against the horizon.

The housing estate is being developed using typical Andalusian architecture - houses, country estates and the Andalusian village structure – surrounding an 18-hole golf course – designed by Spanish champion Borja Queipo de Llano and playable by golfers of every skill level. The complex includes businesses and hotels, all providing very high quality standards and services for the comfort of the most demanding clients.

Dimensions of the housing estate:

• Total land surface: 1.459.641 m²
• Maximum number of houses: 10 houses /Ha.
• 18-hole, par 72 golf course
16/11/2006 21:38:00
