DESCRIPTION OF WAY: FROM COSTA BALLENA TO SANLÚCAR CLUB DE CAMPO

Once you have gone out from Costa Ballena Resort, take the road A-2077 to Sanlúcar (In front of the exit).
Drive 12 Km approx, and turn right at the crossroads.
Take the first roundabout straight ahead (Hospital at your left side)
Take the second roundabout straight ahead (Hipersol and McDonald’s at your left side)
Take the next small roundabout to the first exit (right/centre). You enter into Calle Puerto.
Go straight ahead until you find a crossroads with traffic lights and turn LEFT to Trebujena/Bonanza (Avenida de la Constitución).
Take the first roundabout straight (BP petrol station at your right side).
At the next roundabout, take the second exit (centre/right).
Then, at the next triangular shaped roundabout, turn left and then right to Avenida Al Andalus.
Drive straight 1.7 Km and turn right into “Camino de la Paja” (you will find a big sign at your left side)
Then, go straight 0.7 Km, and then turn left (you will find a sign at your left side).
Once you have entered the main gate, drive straight and the pro shop is at the right side of the second big roundabout (Calle Francisco Rodriguez).

DESCRIPTION OF WAY: FROM MONTECASTILLO TO SANLÚCAR CLUB DE CAMPO

From Montecastillo, go out and take A- 382 highway to Jerez.
Drive 3 Km approx and turn right to N-349 road (to Jerez Airport)
At the next roundabout, take the third exit to N-349 road
Drive 3,3 Km, and at the roundabout, take the third exit to A-4 Jerez/ Airport.
Drive straight 9,9 km through the A-4 highway, and then take the exit to A-480 Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
Drive 15 Km through A 480, and take exit 10 to A-471 Trebujena. Keep your car at the right side to go to Trebujena.
Drive 2,3 Km and turn left to Sanlúcar (you will have to stop on a crossroads).
Drive a few meters and turn right to the new road “Carretera de plástico”
Drive straight 2,7 km, and turn left to Sanlúcar Club de Campo resort
Go straight, then uphill until you find a small roundabout where you will have to go left, and then right to the golf club parking, which is located in front of the driving range

DESCRIPTION OF WAY: FROM NOVO SANCTI PETRI (CHICLANA) TO SANLÚCAR CLUB DE CAMPO 1. From Novo Sancti Petri, go out from the resort and take N-340 road to Sevilla.2. The road name changes into A-48. Go straight and before arriving to San Fernando, take exit to the right into N-IV road to Sevilla.3. Drive through N-IV road, following the signs to Jerez., and when you are approaching Jerez, take exit to the right to Jerez centre / Sanlúcar de Barrameda.4. In the big roundabout, take the exit to Sanlúcar de Barrameda (A-480 road).5. Take A-480 road to Sanlúcar, drive approx 20 Km and you will find a crossroads with traffic lights, where you have to turn RIGHT to Bonanza/Algaida (Avenida de la Constitución)6. Then, take the first roundabout straight ahead (BP petrol station at your right side).7. At the next roundabout, take the second exit (centre/right).8. SANLÚCAR CLUB DE CAMPO

Hole 1, par 4: Difficult starting hole. Hazard on the right and OB on the left side of the fairway ask for an accurate drive. The second shot is uphill, with a front bunker towards a wild green sloped back to front.

Hole 2, par 5.: Long hole, slight dogleg to the right. The bunker on the left side asks for a faded tee shot. It is only reachable in two for long hitters. Undulating fairway and interestingly contoured green.

Hole 3, par 3: You have to carry the wide front bunker. The green is difficult, with a hump in the centre.

Hole 4, par 5: Not a long par 5 when downwind. A bunker in the middle of the landing area makes it difficult for long hitters. A rippling fairway avoids a level stance for the second and third shot.

Hole 5, par 4: Short par 4. When downwind, long hitters will be tempted to hit the green from the tee. A group of five pot bunkers located 50 yards short of the green makes the decision hard. Narrow and log green that requires accuracy for the approach. Pond on the left side punishes hooks and pulls from the tee.

Hole 6, par 4: The bunker on the right side demands accuracy for the short hitters, if they cannot carry it. Wide green surrounded by pot bunkers.

Hole 7, par 4: One of the hardest holes on the course. Tight drive with water hazards on both sides. Dog leg to the left and an uphill approach shot towards a difficult two tiered green.

Hole 8, par 3: Short hole, with OB to the right and a generous and contoured green

Hole 9, par 5: Dogleg to the left, which requires a draw from the tee. The second shot can be played aggressively to a raised green protected by two bunkers, or play safely and leave a third wedge shot.

Hole 10, par 3: First shot from a raised tee towards a green protected by a pond, which guards the front-right. If the pin is on the right, you have to carry the water, or play safely to the left side.

Hole 11, par 4: Sharp dogleg to the right, which demands a faded tee shot. The approach shot to a broad, raised and two tiered green, flanked by two bunkers.

Hole 12, par 4: Dog leg to the right. The drive must be played to the left side of the fairway to avoid OB on the right. This way you will have a good angle to hit a three-tiered green.

Hole 13, par 3: The shortest hole on the course. You need to carry a pond on the front and a deep pot bunker. Inverted "U" shaped green with five tiers.

Hole 14: Dog leg to the right. Long drives to the left side will be rewarded with a shorter approach shot towards a four tiered green, protected by a pond on the left and a bunker on the right side.

Hole 15, par 3: Mid-long par 3. The multi-tiered green is surrounded by water.

Hole 16, par 4: Slight dog leg to the right. The fairway is wide on the landing area, but flanked by OB to the right and water to the left. The second shot is played to a contoured green, with water on the left and back.

Hole 17, par 5: Drive to a wide fairway, flanked by water on the left and OB on the right. The second shot, for the long hitters, can be played blind to a green protected by bunkers, or play safely and leave a third wedge shot to the green.

Hole 18, par 5: Uphill shot from the tee. OB on both sides. Second shot can be played safely to the middle of the fairway, or try to reach in two towards a double green shared with the hole 9 and protected by two bunkers.

New access road

According to our expectations, the new entry road to Sanlúcar Club de Campo (Lomas de Martín Miguel) has been opened on March 3rd. This new road links directly (as you can see in the map below) to all the main roads to Sanlúcar: A 480 highway from Jerez, A 2001 road from El Puerto de Santa María, A 471 from Seville, and A 491 from Costa Ballena. The new access will avoid crossing Sanlucar suburbs to get to our resort.

The 18-hole, par 72 golf course was designed by Spanish champion Borja Queipo de Llano and combines two very distinct styles: firstly, the layout of the first 9 holes is mainly of British links tradition, although the course is not located by the seaside. It possesses fairways with small hillocks, deep bunkers and dry landscapes.SecondlySecondly, the second 9 holes stand out as a little more “American” in design: we find more water hazards – 7 in total -, several doglegs and greens divided in platforms.The main characteristics to be highlighted are the very high quality green surfaces; the moderate undulations which make holes easily distinguishable from each other; the outstanding views over the Guadalquivir River and Doñana; and the latest rainwater and wastewater management system which accumulates water in 300.000 m3 pools.The course features a putting and a pitching green, a golf school – opened in 2004 - a natural grass practice tee, a provisional House Club with dressing rooms, caddie master, showers, shop, restaurant, bar and private security service. In the near future (2008), the course will have a permanent House Club along with a hotel of approximately 150 rooms. A total of 3000 trees of different species have been planted within the country estate, although they are still growing and do not interfere with the game.Since many of the holes in the course are links style - undulating fairways, small and deep bunkers – they do not require leafy trees to make the game even more difficult.Indeed, the beauty of the landscapes – the countryside, Doñana National Park, vineyards – would eventually be altered if it was covered with high trees. The course has indeed been considered by the Real Federacion Española de Golf (Royal Spanish Golf Federation) as one of the most challenging courses in Spain for golfers of all skill levels.

Tourist Attractions in Sanlucar de Barrameda

Sanlucar has the benefit of both an important environmental area - consisting of the marshy lowlands, the river, and the vineyards - and from its proximity to the main municipalities in the region (23 km from Jerez de la Frontera, 50 km from Cadiz and 100 km from Seville and Malaga). Thanks to all of this, Sanlucar has become a primary holiday destination for tourists from the surrounding area.

As far as leisure is concerned, Sanlucar features a large urban beach – La Calzada Beach – 2.5 km long and approximately 70 m wide. Sanlucar also has a semi-urban beach – La Jara – 2.6 km long and 75 m wide. Sanlucar´s beaches, which benefit from Doñana’s landscape, are home of the traditional horse races in the summertime. Within the area, we can also find the spectacular beaches in Rota and Chipiona, less than 5 km away. There is also the possibility to visit the beaches of Doñana (pedestrian access only).

Sanlucar town centre houses many beautiful monuments: the walls, built by Guzman El Bueno; the Palace of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia, the Palace Orleans Borbon (site of the City Hall), the Casa de la Cilla (site of the Barbadillo wine group), the convents (including the convents of Descalzas, Madre de Dios and Regina) and Las Covachas (old façade of the Palace of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia).

Finally, gastronomy in Sanlucar is based on the quality of the local products: prawns and manzanilla, a wine which can only be obtained in this region.

Furthermore, Sanlucar benefits from two main natural attractions:

· Doñana Nacional Park. Within its 54.252 ha it houses a biodiversity unequalled in Europe. A highlight is the importance of the marshy lowlands as a passing, breeding and wintering place for thousands of European and African birds.

· The Guadalquivir River, the only river in Spain with significant river traffic and currently navigable as far as Seville.

The history of SANLUCAR CLUB DE CAMPO is tightly linked to that of its promoter, D. Alfonso de Hohenlohe, prince, businessman and one of the key characters in the development of the Costa del Sol during the 1950’s. He was the person responsible for many urban, hotel and restoration projects in the luxury tourism industry. Among these we can highlight the Marbella Club, and the Puente Romano. Don Alfonso not only strictly supervised the promotion of the projects themselves, but also their urban architecture, decoration, landscaping, gastronomy, leisure offer, social events, etc. He marked the product with his unmistakable, high-quality, personal touch.

In 1989, Don Alfonso arrived in Sanlucar de Barrameda in search of a new location for a high-level tourism project in an area in Western Andalusia with lower levels of saturation. This was the starting point for the development of the “Sanlucar Club de Campo” project. During a boat trip along the Guadalquivir River, he conceived the “Sanlucar Club de Campo” project: a space for living without built-up urban areas, where respect of the natural environment prevails and with spectacular views over the Guadalquivir River, Doñana National Park and the vineyards of the Jerez region.

•South: the historical monuments of Sanlucar de Barrameda;
